I will not fall into that trap... I support the idium of the Bodisativa. Wanting to be inlightened is in itself a worthy goal..

The want to spread that knowledge admirable..

Seeking a want for knowledge and to spread resorces globaly as to eliminate famin and dispair.. Very wothy ideas..

BUT unrealistic. It is my experiance that 'Greed and corruption get in the way' You and I might want to put it 'all' right.

Many notable good people have tried and failed.. Its a great ideal and its unrealistic to expect sucsess.. noted..

But that the science community should and MUST go forward is just a fact of the real world we are part of..

The search for 'Other Life.' is a very important quest. Finding such life would hang a 'new' slant on our futur...

History could be re written. Religiouse faith shaken.. Interesting times indeed....

I believe I understand your pov, but as it seems to me we both readily accept life outside earth is likely somewhere at somepoint. I don't understand how history could be re-written, since history is the past and the past doesn't change. Religion (not the belief in God but the systems built around it) is a sham as well. So finding life outside Earth is a race to put oneself on a pedestal and say I was right and you were wrong- (scientists / priests). And why would that interest any honest academic- to be drawn into a millenium old pissing contest? However that life metabolizes its energy and replicates, (even if its "so cool" that you eyes will melt) would still be decades away from discovery because the distance and time involved in just traveling to witness such an event. So we would never truely observe how the life exists, also it wouldnt bring us any closer to the question of how did something (life) generate from nothing.

Although we can, with all our human ingeniuty and ability... maybe provide running water for our same species living as far as 8000 miles away- cosmically speaking- in our closet. Maybe, if its not asking too much, try to bring some of the malaria numbers down- or try to find a cure for aids, or cancer.

It just seems undenyable to me that life exists outside earth. So why not just accept it, and hope we stumble upon it when we are ment to.
