I suspect we are now slightly off topic

So PC world have got it going again, good. Swifts PC is his Personal Computer and not politicly correct...you knew this... being a little off topic is not a big issue here is it... I see it as self policing.. and it seems to work well enough. I like to be talked to not talked at... that is the strong point of this forum.

Links are still showing up as the same color as the surrounding text. On mouse-over they change, but it'd be nice to spot them without having to mouse over everything.
My oath of office never expires. "God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?" - Thomas Jefferson. "I have far too long suffered fools. No longer will I tolerate the insufferable. Enjoy the vacuum." - Mugs

PS: I scrambled my password, so no, I will not be responding. Get a clue.

    Thank God this isn't BAUT.

We also banned 9/11 conspiracies for similar reasons
I'd scoot those into the Against the Mainstream section. I watched the second aircraft plow into the tower on live TV. A high school friend died when the Pentagon was hit. Two other friends who live here in town were both working in the Pentagon at the time, and they helped with the wounded. My point is, that's certainly a conspiracy theory. I don't mind people talking about it (gives me a chance to debunk it), although there are entire forums devoted to just that.

As for heated arguments, that's the stuff from which truth is discovered! Much like how all elements throughout the universe are manufactured in stars via stellar nucleosynthesis. Bad Astronomy had a rule inviting such discourse, and so does BAUT: "Of course, we expect to have spirited debates!" (Rule 2)

The key is to stick to the facts and attack the points in the posts without attacking the posters themselves. Good moderators know how to keep things on track. It's work, no doubt about it. Bad moderators lazily close threads, hand out infractions like they scones, and resort to suspensions and bans simply because someone challenges "acceptable thought." For example, BAUT's worship of anthropogenic global warming long ago reached the level of religious fervor, surpassing even that of the mainstream scientific community, and to BAUT's detriment.

In fact ... you can get an infraction for not taking part or instigating a spirited debate ;-)

I need to work on it ... the problem is that I can change it ... but then it changes it for ALL links. So even links on the main page on the names etc ... it actually makes the board look ugly. I will try to look into it this weekend and see if I can figure out how to change it ONLY in the text of the post.

I e-mailed a friend who uses vBulletin on his forums. His in-post hyperlinks show clearly without changing the colors anywhere else.

His frequency of response is iffy, though. I'll let you know asap if I get a response.
