Wow. Can't stomach the fact that socialism has killed half a billion people in the 20th Century alone, eh? Yet you're willing to stick with it? What does that make you? Co-conspirator in the deaths of more than 100 times as many people as were murdered in the Jewish Holocaust?

I said the sign (my avatar) has sharp edges for a reason. Truth is. Over all, it heals, but sometimes it hurts. It remains, however, truth. I chose not to live in a world of fantasy or idealisms. "Just the facts, Ma'am."

If you'd like to live the rest of your life with your head up your ass, I'll respect your right to do so, but I won't cow to it, nor will I hesitate to call it what it is.

This is not a politically correct forum. It's a CORRECT forum. Truth is. Truth will out.

I you can't handle the truth, agingjb, then this isn't where you belong. We live in the world of reality, not fantasy.

I wish you the best on your journey of fantasy.

My oath of office never expires. "God, who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?" - Thomas Jefferson. "I have far too long suffered fools. No longer will I tolerate the insufferable. Enjoy the vacuum." - Mugs

PS: I scrambled my password, so no, I will not be responding. Get a clue.

Thank you. It's good that my qualification as a Dadaist/Naturalist is observable.

Would you be more convinced if I were to offer you the thousand of videos all say much the same thing, but from many different perspectives? Might that change your word from "I don't think it's a single spectrum" into something more realistic, such as "Oh my God, I had no idea of the horrors and atrocities committed under the name of socialism!"
Between 135 Million and 600 Million dead. We don't know. Records weren't kept. Compare that to the 6 million Jews, of the 15 Million sympathizers who died during the Holocaust. Wow. Some 22 to 600 MILLION dead. Thanks to socialism. That's ten TIMES more than everyone who has died in every war known to mankind to date.
Do you REALLY want to continue to support this unbelievably vast level of mass destruction? Are you that crass? That anti-American?

    Truth.
The Nazis were National Socialists so you can't really exclude those who died at their hands from the millions you say were killed in the name of socialism.

Bullets don't kill people - people do.

    I think.
The number of people killed in the name of imperialism is far greater. (let's start from the foundation of the Greek City States - arbitrarily)
The Romans were particularly mean in Gaul. They loved their war machine.

1066 - The Normans arrive in England (or whatever it was called at the time) and steal everything, and they could do it because they had a better army than any of the opposition. Might makes Right!

The Europeans fought each other for possession of Europe for the next 500 years, pausing only for siesta, making babies and afternoon tea.
Then they fought each other for possession of the rest of the world while slaughtering anyone that got in their way.

Socialism hadn't even been invented yet.
(I wonder, are tribal peoples socialist?)
The indigenous people in the lands stolen by the European Imperialists didn't do too well.
Do you own land? Who did you buy it from? and who did they buy it from? . . . and who did they steal it from?

For me, socialism is the Co-Op where I buy my groceries.

The Electricity Board, The Gas Board, The Coal Board, British Rail. These were formed when governments in this country (UK) puchased - sometime compulsorily - private companies, at a time when there wasn't enough private investment to meet the national needs of industrialisation. Capitalists profited from Nationalisation.
Some years later, Privatisation of those Utilities (and Water!!!!) was by selling shares - all the people could buy shares (a share entitlement at a preferred rate) - and millions did - and the poor sell their shares immediately, they need the money. The wealthy buy them even though the price drops. They can afford to hold them until the price goes up. The quite poor sell their shares quickly in case the price drops below the preferred rate price they paid. The wealthy buy them. The price drops and, of course, when the share price drops the company must increase the selling price of the commodity to increase its profit to make its shares more desirable. This hurts the poor more than the wealthy.
    Capitalists profited from Privatisation.

    So Here's The Truth.
Nature is Red in Tooth and Claw (Competitive) - Nature is an Inter-dependant Network of Life and Death (Co-operative)
    Both are True

In a free society with a free market, the honest businessman will be less profitable than the dishonest businessman and, in the long-term, will be driven out of business. The only way to completely stop this from happening (in the absence of Socialist Priciples) is to have 100% efficient policing.

I work for a charity, helping and supporting young people. I do a skilled job; three days a week, for minimum wage. I have done this for 12 years. That is socialism.

The nature of perception, conception and the human condition of being variously conscious of the actions of mind ensures that we all live in fantasy. You don't seem to recognise this.
    (I have to re-quote you, here) -
Do you REALLY want to continue to support this unbelievably vast level of mass destruction? Are you that crass? That anti-American?
I have not voiced any support for killing people - I am almost certain I have not exhibited crassness in any of my posts on this forum (nor rudeness, nor vulgarity) - I don't think I'm anti-American. Some of my best friends are Americans. (Oh My God! I might be an Americophobe!)
Actually, none of my best friends are American. I lied. I did know one, once. She was a really nice person.
Oh, wait, no, she was from Newfoundland. That's near America, isn't it?

Something about the recent election and the discussions of which, makes me think that Voter Participation would be a problem. People don't tend to lean that way. They like to have the work done for them, then complain about how it's done. My basic objection to the github proposal is participation. Which totally could work in my favor
But sometimes you gotta be straight.
