You're not alone. I miss his contributions to the board, as well. His humor and keen wit really kept things humming.

I would like it known that thus far a fairness of unrestricted thought has been shown, not just talked of...

I see this FORUM as fair. I am making a direct comparison to the BAUT forums.. that I am having some difficulty understanding...

Yes they have suspended me again and this time I am not going to let it go... I see first hand unfairness.

and I am so addicted to the forum concept that I come here to vent my displeasure. I hope only for your ears..

    I have PM them, but to no avail.. Its the point that;

I used the word 'Stupid' and when told not to do it I objected to the moderation in thread.

I do not agree and will consider not going back there because of the moderation attitudes. Those attitudes I do not see here.

I will now repeat the sentence.. and would hope a understanding of my point is clear....

The conversation was ongoing about the proposed cancellation of the James Webb Space telescope. and I said.

'It will hurt astronomy and the decision is stupid. It will never cost less and if not built now, will not ever be...'

I was then told not to name call, and was warned to follow rules. I said NO. I did not call anyone stupid., but the decision itself.

Am I being unreasonable ? or just thick.

Neither unreasonable nor thick, I think.
I agree with your assessment; of this forum, that forum, and of what you quoted.

While raising our kids I became conscious of the importance of "criticise the action, not the person". Don't say, "You're a bad boy!" - but say, "You did a bad thing!"
The forum rule is valid but I think the moderation is not - but what can you do?
The extent to which someone identifies themself with their actions or ideas is not something any other person has control over, so an attack on those actions or ideas may be percieved as an attack on that person (by that person), but that is their problem.
It is unfortunate if the moderator of a forum (or anyone in power) has that problem - unfortunate for the people they govern.

I would always try to stop short of being permanently banned because, even though I may intend to never return, one day I might come back with proof of how wrong they were.
    Then they'd be sorry!
Then they would bow down and worship before me!
    Muhwuhahaha!!!

I speak as one who was banned by BAUT and declined re-entry much later. I do think that it is wise not to refer to others (or even ideas) as stupid. Of course we are only human and make mistakes (sing Billy Joel song here). Having done that it is always a good thing to apologize. In my case I got banned because I called a liar a liar. they said it was for "making a legal threat" but I actually only asked them to keep the details of Chris Hilman so that should I need to get a lawyer onto him I could. Not directed at the forum. Of course politeness is something to be always aimed for. However in BAUT there was always the whole mainstream thing as well. The real reason they wanted to be rid of me was that I knew too much about what was not justified about the mainstream beliefs. I have no regrets. My post threads are still visible in BAUT. This forum has better objectives, even if the membership is rather less. Time will solve that, along with BAUT policy. ;-)

One more thing. "Against The Mainstream" is so ... well, so BAUT.

How long does it take for me to reply to my own thread? I started a new post right away, with no delay, and I'm watching people respond to my own post while I wait for my own reply to be "approved by the moderator"! It's frustrating, to say the least. If something needs to be approved by a moderator, I would think that a new thread would take precedence over a mere reply to one's own post, or am I missing something here? I'll have to wait and see if THIS reply goes through!

Okay, that one went through right away, and now it's gone! There's some sort of glitch in this forum. Could you look into it please?

I see only one thread started by Maat.

Maat, be patient, after a little while you get more normal posting privileges. This is to prevent spammers and works well.
