    Default Ray Tomes

Hi Everyone, I am Ray Tomes. I have studied cycles in everything for many years. This lead me to an understanding of harmonically related cycles and to develop a theory of the Universe based on this. See Harmonics Theory Physics and Maths for more. I belonged to BAUT until I was banned (without trial I might add ) for calling a liar a liar. I posted often in the ATM section there to try and avoid getting into trouble. But I consider my ideas to be quite mainstream as they all obey standard physics. It is just that people have not understood the consequences of standard physics. Have fun, Ray

    Got to be careful,

Cycles and epicycles is where astronomy started and from which if needed to be removed. Without criticizing, since I don't know, I am skeptical as any good scientist should be. Direct me, my friend, where should I be looking to try to understand what you have seen? I will then make my comments. I promise to be open minded. If I'm not, you may call me on this.

My general intro to the group lies below
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Hi All,

Stepping in here. I think I will leave this group soon as I think I won't fit in. I am a PhD astrophysicist. Just looking around to see what's going on. You will find I have strong, science guided opinions. I pride myself at not being closed to new ideas, but I am demanding in my need for reasons to believe this or that. This is also true of my own beliefs. Really, it make it hard to be accepting of most stuff. Is this a failing? Is this a disadvantage in life? Some tell me so, but I think not. Let's see what people have to say here. You will find me patient. I am willing to offer opinion and listen to that of others. Hello, everyone!

Rick, I just posted a reply to you in another thread before finding this. Note that there is a link in my post above. Please fire away.

The cycles and epicycles of astronomy are still practiced. All tidal calculations are done using Fourier analysis (the modern name for epicycles) of tide gauge readings over many years. There are many problems where this is the only approach that works. Sure, Newton found something deeper, a great achievement, but somewhere someone wrote a paper called something like "... got a bum rap" (forgotten his name).

Thank you Grapes. Ptolemy's system of off centre circles was almost as good as Kepler's ellipses. It required Tycho Brahe's accurate observations of Mars to tell the difference.
