Default After personal "trauma", enlightenment can result

3 and a half years ago, I lost everything that I thought was important in my life. The sheer desparate need to let go of pain, forgive, and learn to think differently about reality resulted in some astounding fundamental changes in my perception of life on the physical plane of experience. I believe that this must be a raising of my consciousness. When I am experiencing raised consciousness, I have a universal perspective... I see that others are rising also. I see an evolutionary event for "humanity", and all things seem apparent. I have no previous perspective like this, but its becoming quite clear, beautiful, peaceful, and harmonic.

Welcome aboard ... sorry to hear about your loss and glad to hear about your enlightenment.

BTW ever read "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse?

A near death experience has a similar effect. See the book "Transformed by the Light". Material things become far less important.

However it is very likely wrong to use the term "enlightenment" for this experience, important as it is. Enlightenment is generally achieved as a result of a lengthy path, although it is quite possible that a trauma might be an important factor in promoting that path. Hi All,

Stepping in here. I think I will leave this group soon as I think I won't fit in. I am a PhD astrophysicist. Just looking around to see what's going on. You will find I have strong, science guided opinions. I pride myself at not being closed to new ideas, but I am demanding in my need for reasons to believe this or that. This is also true of my own beliefs. Really, it make it hard to be accepting of most stuff. Is this a failing? Is this a disadvantage in life? Some tell me so, but I think not. Let's see what people have to say here. You will find me patient. I am willing to offer opinion and listen to that of others. Hello, everyone!

    Rick
