Default How to prevent jet lag when travelling to Europe!

Day -2 ( or earlier ) go to your doctor and tell him you are travelling and need a prescription for Ambien CR.

Day -1 at 7:00 PM take ambien CR 12.5 milligrams ... get relaxed and in sleep ready ( in bed ) at 8:00

Day of travel ... wake up at 4:00 AM ... go to work or whatever ... go to the airport and board plane ... once aboard and seated take ambien CR 12.5 milligrams ... have a drink or two and start to watch a movie ... you should fall asleep.

Day +1 take Ambien CR at 11:00 PM ( Europe Time )

You will have no jet lag at all.

Ambien is good stuff, but it does have a serious rebound effect, so taking it for more than a couple of days is a no-no.

Also, 5 mg doses is the amount given to aircrews, but they're the ones having to get up the next day and perform free from the drug's effecs. If you have any serious thinking to do the next day, perhaps you should consider using it in a lower dose.

Finally, ambien can be taken with melatonin, though I wouldn't recommend more than 300 mcg (microgram) mimimum. For several years I had to fly repeatedly on varying shifts, and taking just 5 mg of ambien with 300 mcg of melatonin 9 hours before my scheduled wakeup time worked exceptionally well.

    Other things to do include:

    - avoiding TV at bedtime

    - using a low-wattage night-light to read

    - having a glass of milk at bedtime

    - other than the milk, don't eat within 3 hrs of bedtime, and don't eat a large meal either!

    - ensuring proper hydration

    - no caffeine within 6 hours of bedtime

    - no exercise within 6 hrs of bedtime, either, though moderate exercise earlier than morning is good
