Thread: Anti matter and a commercial space race

Is the anti-matter belt found around earth and other planets the same kind of anti-matter that gives off a large amount of energy when it comes into contact with normal matter?
How is this possible?
My understanding was that if anti-matter touches normal matter, it converts the normal matter and anti-matter into energy through, what I imagine would be, a big explosion.....


If it turn out that the anti-matter is harvest-able do you think that it would spark a race for energy companies like Exxon,BP,Chevron, and so on,to harvest anti-matter from large planets like Jupiter and even encourage the colonization of other planets and moons within the solar system?

We found anti-matter belts around the planets? Why wasn't I informed?! Everyone knows that I've been looking for mine for decades.

Joe McCarron, my totally uninformed speculation on this matter (pun intended) would be that there is really only a very small amount of it, and the space it inhabits is very non-dense, so it hardly ever collides with ordinary matter. But that is (again) my uninformed speculation, and it should be discarded in the presence of facts/evidence, and possibly even better-informed speculation

Heres an article about it. There's a few more from other sources but they all mostly say the same thing.
I think maybe anti-protons may differ from the traditional antimatter I've learned about from NOVA and Sci channel programs.
