    Default god particle

Is the "God Particle" the Higgs Bosson? And why is it deemed the "God Particle"? I mean I see its importance but not sure it is any more important than a photon or something like that is it? Am I missing something?

Hyperbole. The Higgs boson wiki page says it came from Lean Lederman's book, The God Particle, but it says he wanted to name the book The Goddamn Particle, and the editors wouldn't let him. Sounds like the phrase had some currency before the book.

Originally the God Particle was the one particle that would unify everything, the 'Genesis' particle, as it where, that the Science world was/is looking for that ties everything into one great big happy family. How it came to be associated with the Higgs boson is anyone's guess.

Really? Do you have a citation?

NOW... a statement of facts... There's a awful lot of things I just do not know...and that I come here to try and push back the ignorance..." The God Particle.."

I would suggest was a name to capture your attention.. and that was a effective.. method of getting that. It worked.

All of which stems from the beginning of all things known..' The Big Bang '... and what, why and how...

the God particle is that as yet undefined particle that triggered the whole damned thing..

that I do not know what, where or why is not slightly surprising... Its NORMALITY RESUMED. or its something else..YOU tell me,.. and then we shall both know..

The history of physics and cosmology is the history of people always believing that they are just discovering the most fundamental thing ever and that there will be no more mysteries after that. Haha!

A fellow astronomer is getting a reputation for goofy ideas.. the trouble with this is that he believes his ideas and takes it all very seriously..

The rest of this small group of interested parties is finding him hard to reason with.. This subject the God Particle is one of his subjects...

That its discovery will answer all of the questions. The cosmological constant.. the Big Bang.. The trigger mechanism.. Dark energy and my left slipper..

All of Earths mysteries solved... yea right ! and just as you. I have tried to tell him that with every question answered does come more and more questions..
