Thread: Simple question for most of you regarding light

I am a photographer and I have always wonder about this. I have noticed while standing next to some of my more powerful flash equipment, I can actually feel the energy from the light as it goes off. What is it that I am feeling. I have actually seen the flash move my defusers.

Depends, are you using lycopodium powder?

I would suggest you are experancing heat from the light sorce..

As for the percieved motion of your light defusers.. no..

Not to far from here is a open to the public cave complex.. Deep within this complex is a 'cathedral area..

Where cleaver use of lighting makes movment and images of shadows.. Its NOT motion. Its perception.

The sudden light flash can change your perception.

Without science, is like without hands.. not impossible, but very diffacult.

What is it that you see.. Reflected light trasmitted through transparent atmosphere.. To optical receptors..

Our eyesight is a small part of the electromagnetic spectrums massive width..

Some parts of that spectrum are indeed powerful and strong.. Able to cook or destroy..

With some amussment I watched a 'Decovery chanel doco' or eas it Richard Hamonds small world..

Regardless, they showed the extent of the EMS and what a small part of it we use..

The microwave oven and the X-ray. Being great parts, unseen.

Visable light emitted from a source and reflected off objects and then to your eyes receptors..

The decovery of it was not a earth shattering revilation and the descoverer said he doubted it being of any worth..
