Default Newbie - question about tempature

Newbie here - found this forum and have been fascinated by the discussions and brian power around here!

I'm wondering what the highest possible temperature is? I have some vague understanding that temperature is related to the motion of particles and absolute zero is no motion. Does the speed of light impose a similar restriction to how hot something can get?

Also, is there a practicle limit if nothing approaches any given restrictions?

    Thanks!

Excelent question! I would think an upper level would have to do with e=mc^2 where at some point you could have an energy density that would be equal to a black hole ... like in theory you could have a laser with enough energy that a black hole would form.

BTW I am moving this thread to the questions forum as it is great question.

When the very early universe was smaller than an atom (at the point when the inflation began) it would have been just about as hot as things could get. An unimaginable high density and energy plasma. Big Bang - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As regarding temperature I could only find this article in wiki.

Wikipedia is blocked! We're going to have to find...a new answer.

Yep, that's what they intended. What happens when Wikipedia gets taken over by Metallica? Every 15 year old that publishes information without copyright, gets sued. SOPA. Yep.

It's back up. That discussion another thread maybe.

There is no theoretical limit to temperature. We can't yet solve for what must have happened in the first moments of the Universe. Most likely there is a limit, beyond that it probably doesn't exist as 'temperature' so much. Read the working link above on Wik.
There is a remote tribe out there that worships the number zero. Is nothing sacred???

    NOVA | Absolute Hot

Linkage seems relevent. Could be redundant to the discussion at hand.
