Default A universe of infinite mass?

I understand that it is believed the universe is infinite in extent with an infinite amount of matter and that it is flat to the best of our knowledge. What I don't understand is how it went from, perhaps, a quantum vacuum fluctuation to infinite.I mean, is that what is currently understood to have happened? I don't see how it could have gone from a singularity, then to some finite size, and then to infinite size. It seems to me that it would have to become infinite in extent the moment after the big-bang. Any thoughts? In a "global" sense (observing the infinite extent of the universe the moment after the big-bang), it seems to me that the matter within the universe would be at nearly infinite density...throughout the infinite extent of the universe.Thanks,m74

    Default infinite mass

From my understanding, the current theory is that the visible universe is finite and bounded, with a marginal or hidden level of material, currently accelerating; so I don’t understand your question.
