The only other one I ever saw was when I was about 12 years old. I am 47 now and live in Milton Keynes UK. I was standing in the kitchen about an hour ago (11pm local time and a glorious clear night) )when an extremely bright orange light appeared in the sky coming from the west, I recognised it instantly and ran out to the back garden. It had a short tail and was tear dropped in shape, the bright orange head turned to red as it met the tail and looked literally like fire in the sky. It was quite large as well. Unlike the first one I saw this one was not shedding debris, it just had a short burning tail. It was very bright. As it tracked across the sky it passed its closest to me and began to go away. It got fainter and I could no longer see the bright orange head, just the dull red burning tail. I watched it as it approached the horizon, it crossed the complete sky in less than 15 seconds. As it approached the horizon (about 20 degrees elevation) it began to fade and disappeared whilst still well above the horizon. I can only assume it exited the atmosphere and returned to space. Probably to re-enter on its next pass. This must be one of the most amazing sights in astronomy that can be watched with the naked eye. I had no time to grab any camera, pity, not enough of these are caught on film.So excited I just had to post. I bet we have a few UFO reports on tomorrows news.
