Default Travelers to remote regions - what percent are insane?

I notice from listening to "Coast To Coast" that the various experts on ancient civilizations, Atlantis, astral projection etc. usually say that they have spent much time traveling. They brag of travel to remote places on missions to consult Mayan elders, visit pyramids, sail the Bermuda Triangle, etc.I, myself, do not enjoy travel and have never traveled to remote places. So I want ask those of your who have: What percent of your fellow travelers were insane?

The monk of old said all the world is mad save me and thee, and sometimes I wonder about thee = most of us are a little insane, but functional in most respects. Neil

Insane? Or merely insanely rich? I can't afford to go traipsing all over the world, that's for sure!

I think I see where you're getting at. While in the Air Force, I visited more than 30 countries, many while on duty, a few more while on vacation. Was I sane? I think so. Were the others in the Air Force with whom I travelled sane during our trips while on active duty? I think so, again.

But our excursions (private or on active duty) were never for the purpose of finding ET, the lost city of Atlantis, etc. As for "ancient civilizations," if you're referring to the folks who built castles, pyramids, and other wonders which remain standing after thousands of years, then I'm guilty for being curious as to how some of their engineering feats were accomplished.

Still, that curiosity is limited to fact, based on hard engineering, not fanciful pyramidal spaceships like the one featured in the movie Stargate.

As for those whose curiosities do fall along more fanciful lines, I suggest it's because they have more money than they know what to do with while not having had enough science and engineering to know what they're dealing with.

What if we change "traveler" to "explorer". Cause people like Ernest Shackleton who explored Antarctica certainly must have had a screw or bolt lose somewhere.
