    Default End of the Universe!

With so many theories out there on the end of our Universe, it's hard to decide for yourself which one is correct. Especially with new discoveries and theories such as the acceleration of the expansion of the Universe, quantum tunneling, and string theory, it can be even more confusing. What are your thoughts on the ultimate fate of the Universe?

i think the universe will not end.i think our known universe is just one of maybe a infinite[or at least alot]of universe's in the one space.kinda like different neihborhoods.as our uni expands,so do others and eventually they will overlap or combine with each other.of course i may be completly wrong and we all die in the big freeze.to me,it is appearent that with the uni expanding,it must have something to expand into, space.therfor, wouldn't that suggest that there are more"universe's" in space?

So, what you're saying is that you believe in more of a "multiverse" theory, like M-Theory? (I personally like a multiverse the most, too, because it's saying that we pretty much have an endless amount of resources at our disposal, istead of putting a death sentence on us after about 100 trillion years.)

yes i do believe in multiverses, but i am not sure about the membrane theory[if thats what you mean].i def think it is interesting.i dont think the BB was the creation of everything.i think because space is infinite there is alot of "empty space[no stars or planets" and occasionaly to objects collide [could be bh or particles]that create a BB in the otherwise "empty" area of space.i think this happens all the time or at least it was commen at one point.and if space is infinite then the word "time" lose's it meaning or becomes usless as a tool of measurment on a human scale.i imagine space and all the multiverses kinda look like fireworks going off but in a cosmological time scale.i am also a big fan of Occum's razor.it would be simpler to have one space with multiverses rather than multiple spaces that are independant of each other seperated by hyperspace.although i think its a really cool idea,it seems to complicated for nature.

What if, instead of being created in one space, the uiverse was created in a black hole singularity in a larger universe?

i have heard this theory and find it suprisingly interesting.check out nassim harriem on youtube.one of his theories is that all matter is a BH.the fundamental geomitry of space is the 64 side tetrahedron in vecter equalibrium.this shape is in a sphere.this allows for a infinite amount of info in a finite space in both directions[quantum to cosmic] which puts everything the center of its own observable universe-ie=singularity at the center of a BH.

According to many leading cosmologists, the so-called "end" of our own Universe will be rather grim. There is only so much hydrogen in the Universe capable of forming stars, so as the Universe accelerates its expansion more and more, galaxies will accelerate away from each other to the point where the individual galaxies will no longer be able to even see each other. And as the last of the long-lived K and M stars die out, the Universe will become dark once again. From here I've heard of the "Era of Black Holes" and several other hypothesized cosmic epochs, but effectively the Universe will suffer a heat death as its temperature slowly asymptotes toward, although not reaching, absolute zero (basically reaching the temperature of the Cosmic Microwave Background, around 2.725 K if my numbers are correct). At that point, there won't be enough energy for any useful work in the Universe. So it seems that the fate of our Universe is grim, but there is always room for new discoveries, and for now (and the next trillion years or more) we will have stars, and a relatively bright night sky.

Yes, I've read all about that - iron stars, gravitational tide, proton decay, quantum tunneling, the Heat Death of the Universe, and all that other fun stuff. It does seem quite grim - well, unless you're Michiko Kaku, and you believe that we'll reach a point where we can travel to other universes inside the multiverse. Of course, by then we would already have sublimed.

I've always been a big fan of Michio Kaku. I find he has a wonderful way of describing parts of reality that seem so far-removed from everyday knowledge. And while I'm not as into sci-fi as many science lovers, I have to say that his far-reaching ideas are definitely an inspiration.

I have to say, with all the studying I've done, I had never heard of an Iron Star before. Thanks for bringing it up, I love new info!
