    Default energy bubbles

so i just read a blurb in the paper that says scientist discovered 2 sharp edged bubbles that contain massive amounts of gamma radiation above and below the milky way.i believe they said it is the equivalent to 100,000 supernova.any ideas on what could cause so much energy in such a confined space?

Not that confined ... 25000 light years or something ... but probably from the blackhole consumption.

what would cause the squashed hourglass shape and what would be needed to contain that amount of energy?

It's not so much contained, although I would probably assume there might be a slight magnetic field attached to such a large outpouring of energy. From what I have read, these two bubbles were probably caused by the supermassive black hole at the Milky Way's center. According to the researchers, the black hole was consuming quite a large amount of gas and thus there was a massive outpouring of energy from said black hole, which we see the remnant of today. So as far as I am aware, the black hole is not currently active, we are just seeing the afterglow of its past devouring.

thats kinda what i thought.that instead of seeing jets of gamma energy shooting out while active,we are seeing the "setteling" of this energy since the SMBH is "dorment".since the left over energy is equivalent to 100,000 supernovas ,how much get ejected out when the SMBH is active?
