Default stupid 3d map of dark matter.

I saw THIS animatic in a number of TV shows on the bewb tewb. And I was wondering if anyone could put some scale in this for me.

It doesnt apper to have any context. I dont know if thats the dark matter round the solar system, or the milky way.Or if it's between here and galaxy X.

The shows dont mention this either. They just say "We mapped out some blobs of dark matter, used gravitational lensing, there, it exists, moving on...."

I would like to know how big this blob of dark matter is. Also, where it is.

The idea is that it forms a halo around galaxies. I've never gotten a sane reason for the halo hypothesis. Then they show you blobs and they look like neural networks. The whole theory is inconsistent, and Fermilab has ruled out most of SUSY parameter space for neutralino dark matter. It's a scam to get funding for more telescopes that tell us absolutely nothing (remember...the first finding of astronomers was that distant galaxies were moving away from us faster than the speed of light (Weinberg's Gravitation and Cosmology)). These people don't have a clue.

Not sure, definately bigger than a zip code and perhaps smaller than a few mega parsecs. I think you could sprinkle a few million galaxies on it.

Where does one go to find the completed map of our galaxy? Or is it changing too fast to be accurate or useful?
I ask because someone said they are mapping the universe. Yes I know the difference between galaxy and universe.

The term "mapping" has more than one meaning.
Because of the vast distances involved, the changes in position of objects outward of Earth changes very little in our lifetimes.

This not so stupid video shows the same 3D map, but includes additional details via verbal commentary providing scale, background, methodology, and conclusions.
As for those whose curiosities fall along more fanciful lines, I suggest it's because they have more money than they know what to do with while not having had enough science and engineering to know what they're dealing with.
